Siti Mugi Rahayu, salah satu guru SMA di Bekasi, mengabarkan di grup Facebok Klub Guru Menulis IGI bahwa terjadi perdebatan sengit di tempatnya mengajar. Hal itu terkait dengan penulisan ”pelepasan” dan ”penglepasan” pada acara wisuda siswa kelas 12. (Fb KGM, 5/6/2012).
Pada 15 Juni 2008, Ahmad Rizali di milis Centre for Betterment of Education (CFBE) menulis bahwa ia melihat tulisan ”Pelepasan Siswa-Siswi…” di aula Fakultas Hukum Universitas Indonesia (FH UI). Dia lantas merujuk pernyataan almarhum Slamet Jabarudi, redaktur bahasa majalah Tempo. Yakni, berdasar Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia (KBBI), pelepasan itu sama dengan dubur atau anus. (CFBE, 15/6/2008)
Atas dasar tersebut, Ahmad lebih setuju penggunaan kata ”penglepasan.” Sebab, ia menganggap pelepasan siswa-siswi berarti (maaf) anus siswa-siswi. Lantas, mana bentuk baku yang tepat, penglepasan atau pelepasan?
Mari kita tengok pembentukan kata berikut ini.

Berdasar uraian di atas, jika imbuhan peng- + -an bertemu kata lepas, bentuknya adalah pelepasan. Inilah bentuk baku berdasar kaidah pembentukan kata dalam bahasa Indonesia.

Mengapa muncul bentuk penglepasan? Menurut Suryo Handono dari tim Laman Balai Bahasa (2011), kata penglepasan muncul untuk menghindari bentuk kurang sopan. Alasannya, salah satu makna kata tersebut adalah anus/dubur. Padahal, sesuai dengan penjelasan di KBBI, kata pelepasan tidak hanya bermakna dubur. Ada empat makna untuk kata pelepasan.
Dalam ulasan kebahasaan di harian Kompas, Abdul Gaffar Ruskha menyatakan, ”Bahwa penglepasan bermakna proses, cara, dan kegiatan melepaskan, sedangkan pelepasan adalah bagian belakang untuk buang air besar atau dubur itu tidak harus dibedakan.”
Saya setuju itu: yakni yang tepat adalah bentuk pelepasan, bukan penglepasan. Dasar dan kaidahnya sudah jelas.
